Unique one-of-a-kind Mayan tribal silk scarf with the Mayan vision serpent and Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent God. Mayan mythology describes serpents as being the vehicles by which celestial bodies, such as the sun and stars, cross the heavens. The shedding of their skin made them a symbol of rebirth and renewal.
This awesome silk scarf is painted in beautiful vivid colors with a traditional mayan motif patten and an orange background. It's hand painted on very high quality silk giving it a luxurious feeling of wearing a very special fashion accessory.
This scarf is Authentically hand painted using the ancient traditional technique of Batik. Batik is a long multi-step process that incorporates drawing the artwork onto the fabric then using hot wax to trace all the drawn lines with a special wax pen tool. The wax acts as a resist to prevent the color dyes from mixing. The fabric is then stretched and carefully painted using dyes and special brushes. After a day of drying the fabric is submerged into boiling water to remove the wax leaving a white outline where the wax was applied.
Handwash in cold water with a mild soap.
Roll scarf flat in a large fluffy bath towel.
Iron on a low heat setting while scarf is damp.
